What does the dual 2.5in layout do for the 5L?
Running two 2.5in pipes keeps each bank of the 5L V8 on its own path back from the extractors, which holds gas speed up for low-down and mid-range pull on a street-driven VT. A muffler on each side then settles the note in two stages, so the SSMKHN0112 is the more reserved end of the sedan's options — present at the tailpipe without carrying into the cabin on a long drive.
What's in this engine-back build?
It's a complete engine-back system for the VT 5L sedan, not headers alone. Tubular extractors replace the cast manifolds at the heads, then a matched twin 2.5in run carries the gas rearward into a muffler each side. The whole run is supplied together so the primaries and pipework stay sized to suit, at an RRP of $4,783.24.
What's an extractor and what's the catch?
Extractors are tubular headers that replace the factory cast manifolds, giving each cylinder a longer, more even path off the head to ease back-pressure and improve scavenging. The honest trade-off is that a header-led job is a heavier fit than a bolt-on rear section, and the pipework behind has to be matched to the headers — which is why this is supplied as one system.
