What does the SSMKHN0143 include?
This package covers the VX-VY Monaro V8 from the engine back. Tubular extractors replace the cast manifolds, then a twin 2.5in run carries the gas rearward through a hotdog resonator and into a muffler. It's the hotdog-and-muffler companion to the muffler-and-tailpipe build in the same VX-VY range.
What is a hotdog resonator for?
A hotdog is a compact straight-through resonator plumbed in line with the exhaust. Positioned ahead of the rear muffler, it smooths out specific resonant frequencies before the main muffler does the bulk of the silencing. With extractors at the front, this becomes an engine-back package: the manifolds are replaced and the 2.5in dual pipework is matched behind them. The honest trade-off is that header work is a more involved fit than a simple muffler swap, so the run is supplied together to keep the sizing consistent from the heads to the rear.
