Large 1⅞in primaries into a 3in dual, silenced with a muffler each side — the MPI Automotive SSMKHN0235 is the fully-muffled large-bore build for the VU-VY-VZ V8 ute. It takes the higher-rpm extractor spec but keeps the most damped rear in the 3in range.
What do the 1⅞in primaries suit?
Primary tube size is the application decision. At 1⅞in the SSMKHN0235 favours higher-rpm, higher-output builds, where larger primaries help the V8 keep flowing as demand climbs — the bigger-bore end of the extractor range rather than the smaller primaries tuned for low-down gas speed on a stock motor. Here that flow-minded front end is matched to the quietest rear in the 3in family.
Why a muffler each side on a large-bore build?
A silencer on each bank gives the most damping of the rear options — a fuller, more controlled note than a hotdog or a muffler-and-tailpipe back end. Pairing it with the 1⅞in/3in plumbing lets you run the bigger-bore, higher-rpm extractor spec without the volume of an open or straight-through rear, which suits a ute that still needs to live with daily driving.
What's in the package?
It's a complete extractor-back system. The 1⅞in tube-and-merge extractors replace the cast factory manifolds at the heads — the main breathing restriction on these V8s — then a 3in dual carries the gas back through a rear muffler each side. The upgrade runs from the engine all the way to the tail.
