MPI Automotive Holden WH Statesman V8 3in Dual With 1 7/8 in Extractors Hotdog/Muffler.
Category: Extractors and headers

Built around 1-7/8in primary tubing, the MPI Automotive SSMKHN0296 is the larger-bore extractor option for the Holden WH Statesman V8, feeding a 3in dual exhaust with a hotdog resonator and rear muffler. The 1-7/8in primaries are the headline here — they favour the upper rev range over low-down snap.
Bigger primary tube lets more gas flow at higher rpm, so 1-7/8in extractors suit a WH Statesman V8 that's been worked or is driven hard up top, rather than a stock low-rpm cruiser. It's an application choice, not a free upgrade — the trade is a little low-speed gas velocity for more room to breathe higher in the range.
Behind the extractors runs a 3in dual system using a hotdog (a straight-through resonator) plus a rear muffler. The hotdog takes the edge off the drone while the muffler does the main quietening, so the big-bore note stays present without being raucous on the road.
A 3in dual pipe matches the larger 1-7/8in primaries — there's little point opening the head only to neck the system down behind it. On a long heavy car like the Statesman it gives the V8 a clear path from the flange to the tailpipe.
Oak Flats Muffler Men in the Illawarra supplies and fits this as a complete head-back package. It's listed to fit the WH Statesman V8; send your build and we'll confirm clearances and hanger points before the bay booking.
This is a build-specific MPI Automotive package rather than a shelf item, so we order it against your confirmed WH Statesman details. Going larger on both primaries and pipe is a deliberate spec choice; we talk through whether the 1-7/8in route suits how the car is driven before committing the order.
