Built for the long-wheelbase Grange, the MPI Automotive SSMKHN0310 is a dual 2.5in extractor system listed to fit the HSV WL Grange V8. Twin 2.5in pipes run the length of the car, each carrying a hotdog resonator and muffler.
What does dual 2.5in mean on the Grange?
Dual means each cylinder bank runs its own 2.5in pipe rather than the banks collecting into one. On the long-wheelbase WL Grange that suits the wider, longer underbody. At 2.5in the bore keeps gas speed up for street response over a heavier car, with the extractors replacing the factory cast manifolds with mandrel-bent tube-and-merge runners.
Why the hotdog layout?
Each 2.5in side runs a hotdog resonator ahead of its muffler. The hotdog takes an early edge off the note in the mid-section, then the muffler finishes — a calmer exit than running straight to a single muffler.
