Running two mufflers in series on a dual 3in layout, the MPI Automotive SSMKHN0412 is the most reserved of the dual 3in VU/VY/VZ ute systems. Listed to fit the Holden Commodore VU, VY and VZ V8 ute, it carries 1¾in primaries into twin mufflers per the dual routing.
Why twin mufflers on the dual 3in ute?
The SSMKHN0412 finishes muffler-to-muffler rather than with a hotdog or a single muffler-and-tailpipe. Two muffler stages take the note down in two passes, so this is the quietest of the dual 3in VU/VY/VZ ute builds. We publish no decibel figure and won't quote one; the twin-muffler layout is the choice when you want the V8 present but settled.
What does dual 3in mean under the tray?
Dual keeps each cylinder bank on its own 3in pipe to the rear rather than merging the banks. On the VU/VY/VZ ute that suits the tray and rear floor. The 1¾in primaries feed both banks, replacing the factory cast manifolds with mandrel-bent tube-and-merge runners sized for street response.
