The MPI Automotive SSMKHN0415 runs the VU/VY/VZ ute's left-and-right 3in layout with twin-muffler silencing — muffler into muffler on each path rather than a hotdog. With 1¾in primaries, it's the more reserved of the L-and-R ute builds for the Holden Commodore VU, VY and VZ V8.
Why a twin-muffler L-and-R build?
This system keeps the separate left and right 3in runs of the ute layout but finishes muffler-to-muffler instead of with a hotdog resonator. Two muffler stages take the note down further, so this is the quieter VU/VY/VZ ute option. No sound figure is published and we won't quote one — the twin-muffler choice is simply the more settled of the L-and-R builds.
What does L-and-R routing do under the tray?
L-and-R means each cylinder bank runs its own 3in pipe to the rear rather than the banks collecting into one. Under a VU/VY/VZ ute tray that keeps the two sides independent. The 1¾in primaries feed each side, replacing the factory cast manifolds with mandrel-bent tube-and-merge runners.
