The MPI Automotive SSMKMI0018 is a 3in turbo-back for the Mitsubishi Triton MQ that runs a full rear muffler while deleting the catalytic converter. The muffler keeps the note subdued even with the bigger 3in bore, so it is the quieter cat-delete build.
Turbo-back with a muffler — who is it for?
This covers the system from the turbo outlet back at 3in, the larger pipe sized for a modified or harder-worked MQ. Where the hotdog version chases a freer note, the SSMKMI0018 finishes with a chambered muffler that absorbs and reflects pulses to keep things civil. Is it road legal?
No. Because it deletes the catalytic converter on a road-relevant exhaust path, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is sold for off-road use only. The muffler quietens the system, but it does not restore the emissions function of the catalytic converter the SSMKMI0018 removes.
