The MPI Automotive SSMKTY0336 is a 4in dual system for the DPF-model Toyota VDJ79 V8 4.5L turbo-diesel ute (2016 onward) that keeps the catalytic converter but runs without a muffler. The combination is its signature: it retains the cat for the emissions side while leaving the muffler out for an open, free-flowing path.
Cat retained, no muffler — what does that mix do?
Keeping the catalytic converter means the emissions hardware that matters most for road compliance stays in place, while dropping the muffler opens the path for a louder, harder note than a muffled build.
