The MPI Automotive SSMKTY0338 is a 4in dual system for the DPF-model Toyota VDJ79 V8 4.5L turbo-diesel ute (2016 onward) that runs without a catalytic converter and without a muffler. The cat-delete defines it: with the converter gone and no muffler in the run, this is the most open, off-road-only configuration in the VDJ79 dual range.
Why this is an off-road-only system
Because the SSMKTY0338 removes the catalytic converter on a road-relevant diesel system, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is intended for off-road use only. There is no softening that — deleting the cat takes the ute out of road-legal emissions configuration. We will only fit it for genuine off-road applications.
What does 4in dual with no cat and no muffler give you?
This is a 4in dual layout — the largest bore in this family — with neither a catalytic converter nor a muffler in the path, so it is as open as the range gets. There is no chambering to absorb sound and no converter to restrict flow, which means a loud, hard character. It suits a built VDJ79 V8 run off-road where flow is the priority.
