The Redback XP00553 is an extreme-duty twin 3in muffler delete for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Twin 3in and muffler-free is the configuration: it pulls the rear boxes for a louder exit on the full-size petrol ute.

What does the twin 3in muffler delete do?

Deleting the mufflers from a twin 3in setup removes the boxes that quieten the Silverado, so the note runs louder and harder off the back. The XP00553 is built extreme-duty for the demands of a full-size 1500. It's a muffler delete, not a cat delete — the catalytic-converter side of the truck isn't part of this part.

Where does it sit in the system?

This is the muffler-delete section, not a complete system. It replaces the rear muffler boxes with through-pipe in twin 3in, joining to your existing pipework on the 1500. That makes it a targeted way to open up the note rather than a full exhaust rebuild.

Is it road legal in NSW?

Because this deletes the mufflers and not the catalytic converter, emissions hardware isn't the issue — noise is. A muffler-deleted twin 3in runs loud, and NSW stationary and drive-by noise limits apply for registration. Confirm the build and any noise requirements with the workshop before fitting.

What does fitting involve in the Illawarra?

Oak Flats Muffler Men supplies and fits the XP00553 in-house across the Illawarra. On the hoist we fit the twin 3in through-pipes in place of the rear boxes, set the hangers and check clearance under the truck and past the rear bumper.

Stocked and fitted by Oak Flats Muffler Men, the Illawarra exhaust and 4x4 specialist in Oak Flats, NSW.

Common questions

Does the XP00553 delete the catalytic converter?
No. It's a muffler delete in twin 3in; the catalytic converter is not removed.
Will it make the Silverado louder?
Yes — removing the mufflers raises volume off the twin 3in exit. We describe the design rather than quote a sound level.
