Built around a hotdog resonator rather than a big rear box, the Lukey LKY-MT-MN-HD is a 4x4 cat-back exhaust system listed to fit the Mitsubishi Triton from 2009. The hotdog is the defining piece — a compact, straight-through silencer that trims drone without choking flow.
What does the hotdog do on this system?
A hotdog is a short, straight-through resonator — perforated core wrapped in packing — that the gas passes through in a straight line. On this Triton cat-back it takes the edge off the on-road drone four-cylinder diesels are prone to, but it keeps flow up because there are no chambers or baffles to reverse the gas. The result is a freer-breathing rear section than a heavily muffled stock setup, with the resonator doing the noise management instead of a large restrictive box.
What is a cat-back, and what does it change?
Cat-back means the system replaces everything from behind the catalytic converter to the tailpipe — the engine and emissions hardware are untouched. That's the section where a 4x4 system frees up flow and changes the note, while leaving the factory cat in place. As a cat-back it doesn't alter the emissions equipment the Triton left the factory with.
