The MPI Automotive MBM305PHD is a 3in centre hotdog resonator for the Toyota Hilux 2.8L and 3L (KUN26R and GUN126R) — a compact straight-through silencer that softens a free-flowing diesel system without the bulk or restriction of a full centre muffler.
What does a hotdog do on a Hilux?
A hotdog is a compact, straight-through resonator: a slim body with a perforated core in absorbing packing, so exhaust flows straight through while some sound is soaked up. On the KUN26R and GUN126R Hilux it takes the harsh edge off a 3in system, cutting drone and rasp through the middle without the volume drop of a chambered muffler. It's the freer-flowing way to keep a diesel ute civil.
