The MPI Automotive MBM347MF is a 2in dual centre muffler listed to fit the Ford Falcon BA-BF-FG XR8, XR6 Turbo and Pursuit ute. Being a chambered centre muffler is the distinguishing point — it's the quieter, more subdued centre option for the performance ute rather than a free-flowing resonator.
What does a chambered centre muffler do?
Unlike a straight-through resonator, the MBM347MF is a chambered muffler — it quietens by reflecting and absorbing sound inside baffled chambers, so it takes more drone and volume out of the centre of the system. On a performance Falcon ute that means a more subdued mid-system character than a hotdog or open pipe, while still flowing for the engine. As a dual assembly it carries two paths to match the twin layout.
Where does the centre muffler sit?
It mounts in the middle of the system, between the front and rear sections, sharing the silencing job with the rear muffler. That mid-system position is good for knocking low-frequency boom before it reaches the cabin. At 2in per path the bore suits these utes as fast road vehicles.
