Sitting at the very back of the system, the MPI Automotive MBM369MF is the 3in rear muffler for the Ford Falcon ute in XR6 Turbo and XR8 trim, across the BA to FG range. Because it's the rearmost box, it sets most of the note heard outside the ute — the rear position is its defining role.
What does the rear muffler do?
The rear muffler is the last silencer before the tailpipe, so it has the biggest say in the external note and the final volume. At 3in it's built for the performance Falcon utes — the turbo six and the V8 — keeping the wider bore right through to the tail. As the rear box, it's where the character you hear standing behind the ute is shaped, rather than the in-cabin drone that the centre section handles.
