Twin chambered mufflers down a dual 2.5in cat-back make the MPI Automotive MKFD0145 the more subdued option for the BA/BF V8 ute — absorption at both stages rather than a straight-through resonator. It's listed to fit the Ford BA/BF V8.
Why two mufflers on the ute?
A chambered muffler quietens broadly by reflecting and absorbing sound across the range, where a resonator only tunes one frequency. Running a muffler at both stages of the dual 2.5in run gives the V8 ute a fuller, more controlled note — the calmest of the dual cat-back layouts for this body.
What the dual 2.5in cat-back covers
Dual splits the rear into two 2.5in pipes, sized for the standard Falcon eight and routed for the ute tray and chassis. Cat-back means the section from the catalytic converter rearward is replaced; the emissions hardware ahead of the cat is left exactly as Ford fitted it.
Is it road legal?
It's a cat-back, so the factory catalytic converter and the emissions equipment in front stay in place — not a cat delete. Confirm any state requirements with the workshop before fitting.
