The MPI Automotive MKFD0165 is a 2.5in cat-back for the Ford BA/BF V8 RTV ute, finishing with a muffler and tailpipe. The muffler-and-tailpipe build is the subdued option — a chambered box feeding a defined tailpipe exit at the rear of the RTV.
What does the muffler-and-tailpipe build give?
The MKFD0165 runs a muffler through to a tailpipe at the exit. A muffler quietens by absorbing and reflecting sound inside a baffled body, so on the BA/BF RTV ute this keeps the V8's note measured, with the tailpipe setting how the gas leaves the rear.
