The MPI Automotive MKFD0254 keeps the cat and adds a hotdog: a turbo-back listed to fit the PX2 and PX3 Ford Ranger 3.2L, run with the catalytic converter and a hotdog resonator. Retaining the cat is the key difference from the off-road builds in the range.
Why with cat and a hotdog?
The MKFD0254 is the with-cat, with-hotdog version. Keeping the catalytic converter leaves the 3.2L Ranger’s factory emissions hardware in place, and the hotdog — a compact straight-through resonator — trims a little harshness from the mid-system. Together they make this the more civilised, converter-retaining turbo-back rather than a bare cat-delete.
What does a turbo-back cover?
A turbo-back replaces the exhaust from the turbo outlet rearward. On a diesel ute the catalytic converter is the usual road-compliance sticking point, and this build keeps it, so the emissions equipment the Ranger left the factory with stays in the run.
