The MPI Automotive MKFD0255 is the rear-exit, muffled cat-delete turbo-back for the PX2 and PX3 Ford Ranger 3.2L: a turbo-back with the catalytic converter removed but a muffler fitted. With the cat deleted, it's an off-road-only system, with the muffler keeping the note settled.
What does a muffled cat-delete give you?
This MKFD0255 deletes the catalytic converter to open up the turbo-back run but keeps a muffler, so the note stays more composed than a hotdog-only or no-silencer cat-delete. It's the more subdued of the cat-delete PX2/PX3 turbo-backs — flow from the deleted cat, with the muffler holding volume in check.
What's a turbo-back on the 3.2L?
A turbo-back changes the exhaust from the turbo outlet back, a longer run than a cat-back, on the 3.2L diesel Ranger. Here the cat comes out and a muffler goes in, exiting at the rear. The pipe bore isn't published by the supplier for this listing, so we won't quote a diameter — confirm it with the workshop if it matters to your build.
Is it road legal?
No. Because the MKFD0255 deletes the catalytic converter on a turbo-back, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is intended for off-road use only. The muffler keeps the note down, but the cat-delete sets the compliance status — there's no softening that.
