Category: Mufflers and resonators

The MPI Automotive MKFD0278 is the non-valved dual cat-back for the FN Ford Mustang 5.0L V8 (2018): a 3in dual run with centre hotdogs, rear mufflers and 4in quad tips. As a cat-back it changes the exhaust behind the catalytic converters and runs a fixed note set by the rear mufflers.
A cat-back replaces the exhaust from the catalytic converters back, leaving the factory cats in place. This MKFD0278 runs that section as a 3in dual with centre hotdogs tuning the mid-pipe, rear mufflers handling silencing and 4in quad tips at the tail. With no valve it has one consistent voice rather than a switchable one.
The centre hotdogs are compact straight-through resonators that tidy the mid-section, while the chambered rear mufflers do the main silencing. Together they keep the FN's V8 present but composed at a steady level — the fixed-note dual cat-back for owners who don't want a bi-modal valve in the system.
Because the MKFD0278 is a cat-back, the factory catalytic converters stay in place — the emissions hardware road compliance turns on is untouched. Confirm the exact build and any NSW requirements with the workshop before fitting.
