The MPI Automotive MKFD0297 keeps the centre muffler: a 3in DPF-back for the Next-Gen T6.2 Ford Everest V6 with a centre muffler and a 4in tip. That centre silencer is what makes this the more subdued of the two Everest DPF-back options.
Why keep the centre muffler?
Retaining a centre muffler on this MKFD0297 means the 3in DPF-back carries silencing partway along the run as well as at the tail. The extra muffler takes more energy out of the exhaust pulse, so the note stays more composed than a centre-delete system — the choice for an Everest owner who wants 3in flow behind the DPF but a quieter cabin on long drives.
What's a DPF-back and what stays in place?
A DPF-back changes the exhaust behind the diesel particulate filter, leaving the DPF and the emissions hardware ahead of it as the factory fitted them. At 3in it opens the run behind the filter and exits through a 4in tip. Keeping the DPF means this is the section you can upgrade while the factory filtration stays untouched.
