The MPI Automotive MKFD0316 is the cat-back take on the valved FN Mustang setup: a 3in dual cat-back for the Ford Mustang 5.0L V8 (2018) with centre hotdogs, a rear bi-modal muffler and a 4in quad tip. As a cat-back it replaces the exhaust from the catalytic converters back, keeping the factory emissions hardware.

Cat-back with a bi-modal valve — what's the combination?

A cat-back changes the exhaust behind the cats, leaving the factory catalytic converters in place. This MKFD0316 runs that section as a 3in dual with a rear bi-modal muffler, so you get switchable sound — quieter with the valve closed, louder open — without touching the emissions equipment. It's the route for owners who want the valved character but want the cats to stay.

How does the system flow?

From the cat outlets back, the run is dual 3in pipe with centre hotdogs tuning the mid-section, the rear bi-modal handling silencing and the mode switch, and a 4in quad tip at the tail. Keeping the cats means it leaves the emissions side of the Mustang as the factory built it.

Is it road legal?

Because the MKFD0316 is a cat-back, it keeps the factory catalytic converters in place — the emissions hardware that road compliance turns on stays untouched. Even so, confirm the exact build and any NSW requirements with the workshop before fitting, since how the valve and tips sit can matter.

What's involved in fitting it?

Oak Flats Muffler Men supplies and fits valved cat-backs in-house across the Illawarra. The dual pipe, hotdogs, bi-modal valve and quad tip all need aligning on the hoist, and the valve control wired in. Confirm your FN Mustang's fitment with us and we'll book the bay.

Common questions

Does the MKFD0316 keep the catalytic converters?
Yes — it's a cat-back, so the factory cats stay in place. It changes the system behind them.
How is it different from the full-system valved version?
This is a cat-back (from the cats back) rather than a longer full system, but it shares the rear bi-modal valve and 4in quad tip. Confirm which suits your car with the workshop.
Will it fit my 2018 FN Mustang?
It's listed to fit the 2018 FN Mustang 5.0L V8. Confirm your exact build with the workshop before ordering.
