The MPI Automotive MKIZ0012 is a cat-delete muffler section for the first-generation 3.0L Isuzu MU-X, listed to fit from June 2012 to January 2017. It runs a rear muffler but deletes the factory catalytic converter — that cat-delete is the defining feature, and it's what makes this an off-road part rather than a road-registrable one.
What does the cat-delete mean for this MU-X?
Removing the catalytic converter takes the emissions hardware out of the road-relevant exhaust path, so the MKIZ0012 is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is supplied for off-road use only. There's no softening that: if the MU-X is driven on public roads, the with-cat version of the same section is the one to choose. This part is for a competition or paddock vehicle where the cat is intentionally gone.
Why keep the muffler if the cat is deleted?
