The MPI Automotive MKIZ0024 takes the de-cat route: a turbo-back system for the Isuzu D-Max 3.0L (2020-on) that drops the catalytic converter and runs a compact hotdog resonator instead of a full muffler. That makes it the freest-breathing, most open-noted build in this D-Max family.

What does a de-cat, hotdog turbo-back change?

Running turbo-back means MKIZ0024 replaces everything from the turbo outlet rearward, the longest span on a diesel ute. Removing the catalytic converter takes out the largest in-line restriction, and the hotdog — a short straight-through resonator rather than a chambered muffler — keeps gas moving with only light damping. The result is the most open exhaust note and least back-pressure of the set, where a with-cat or full-muffler variant trades some of that freedom for a quieter, road-compliant configuration.

Is it road legal in NSW?

No. Because it deletes the catalytic converter, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is for off-road use only. It suits off-road, competition or paddock D-Max builds where emissions compliance is not required. If you need a registered exhaust, the with-cat versions in this range are the path to take.

Will it suit my Isuzu D-Max?

MKIZ0024 is listed to fit the Isuzu D-Max 3.0L from 2020. Diesel utes share a lot of underbody but vary by build and accessories, so confirm your exact variant with the workshop before ordering.

What does fitting involve at our Illawarra workshop?

Oak Flats Muffler Men supplies and fits this turbo-back in-house across the Illawarra. We check clearances against your D-Max's underbody, hang the hotdog and pipework, and confirm the build is right before you drive out. RRP is $2,007.15 and stock can be brought in to order.

Common questions

Does MKIZ0024 keep the catalytic converter?
No — it's a de-cat turbo-back, which is why it is for off-road use only and not road-legal in NSW.
What's a hotdog versus a muffler on this system?
The hotdog is a compact straight-through resonator that damps lightly and flows freely; a full muffler quietens more. This SKU uses the hotdog for a more open note.
