The MPI Automotive MKIZ0030 keeps the catalytic converter and tunes the rear with a hotdog. Listed to fit the Isuzu D-Max (June 2012 to Jan 2017) 3.0L, it's the cat-retained, resonator build — free-flowing, but with the emissions hardware kept in place.
Why a hotdog on the D-Max?
A hotdog is a compact straight-through resonator that targets resonance and drone with minimal restriction. On the 2012-2017 D-Max it gives the 3.0L diesel a free-breathing path and a present note while taking the worst of the cabin drone out. Unlike a chambered muffler that quietens by reflection, the hotdog leaves the gas path largely open — so this is the breathe-freer option that still keeps things liveable.
