A hotdog resonator near the rear, and no catalytic converter ahead of it — that pairing defines the MPI Automotive MKIZ0040 turbo-back for the Isuzu MU-X 3.0L (2017–2025). It is the cat-delete build that still carries a compact resonator instead of running fully open.
What the hotdog adds on a cat-delete run
A hotdog is a small straight-through resonator: exhaust passes through a perforated core in packing, trimming the hard edge and some drone without the reflection of a chambered muffler. Because this build deletes the cat, the run is already free-flowing; the hotdog is there to keep the note from being completely raw. It lands between an open system and a muffler build, for owners who want a deeper MU-X tone with a little restraint.
Why the cat-delete is off-road only
This version is built without the catalytic converter, stripping the emissions hardware out of the engine-back run. Removing the cat means it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is sold for off-road and competition use only. On a DPF diesel like the MU-X that is the line that decides registration, so there is no softening it.
Turbo-back on the DPF MU-X
A turbo-back replaces the run from the turbo outlet rearward — a longer span than a cat-back — and on the 2017–2025 MU-X it covers the DPF-back plumbing, engineered around the factory diesel particulate filter location. MPI Automotive lists the MKIZ0040 at $2007.42, generally ordered in to suit your year and build.

- It takes the hard edge and some drone off rather than silencing the system. On a cat-delete run it keeps the note deeper but not fully raw.
