The MPI Automotive MKTY0058 is a 3in turbo-back for the Toyota Prado KZJ120R (3.0L 1KZ) that runs a centre and rear muffler and deletes the catalytic converter. The cat-delete is the defining call here — this is the no-cat, off-road version of the 1KZ Prado turbo-back.
Is it road legal?
No — the MKTY0058 deletes the catalytic converter, so it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is intended for off-road use only. Removing the cat takes out emissions hardware the KZJ120R left the factory with, which is the hard line for road compliance on a turbo-diesel. We won't soften it: this is an off-road part.
What does the centre-and-rear muffler layout do?
Even without the cat, the MKTY0058 carries a centre muffler and a rear muffler, so the note is settled in two stages along the system rather than at a single point. On the 1KZ Prado that keeps the off-road build from being raw straight pipe — the twin silencers knock down resonance mid-system and at the back at the 3in turbo-back bore.
