No cat, no muffler, and a full 4in bore — the MPI Automotive MKTY0389 is the open turbo-back of the VDJ79 4in side-exit range. It's listed to fit the Toyota LandCruiser VDJ79 V8 4.5L Single Cab (2016 on) and leads on minimal restriction.
What does a no-cat, no-muffler turbo-back give you?
The MKTY0389 deletes both the catalytic converter and the muffler, so the 4in side-exit pipe runs straight from the turbo to the exit with nothing to baffle sound or restrict flow. It's the freest-flowing, hardest-sounding build in this configuration — purpose-built for off-road duty and the owner who wants the least restriction the platform allows.
Is it road legal in NSW?
No. Deleting the catalytic converter removes emissions hardware the VDJ79 came with, so the MKTY0389 is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW. It's supplied for off-road and competition use only, and we'll be upfront about that before you commit.
Why 4in on the 4.5L V8?
Bore is sized to the engine. At 4in the MKTY0389 is the generous end of the range, prioritising flow on the 4.5L V8 turbo-diesel over keeping gas speed up — a large-engine choice that exits out the side of the Single Cab, keeping the tailpipe clear of a tray or canopy at the rear.
