The MPI Automotive MKTY0400 is an aluminised 3in DPF-back system listed to fit the Toyota Landcruiser GDJ79 2.8L turbo-diesel ute from 2023, built without a rear muffler. As the aluminised-steel option it's the keener-priced path to a DPF-back, picking up the run behind the diesel particulate filter.
Aluminised DPF-back — what's the trade?
The MKTY0400 is built in aluminised steel rather than stainless, which is the more affordable route into a DPF-back for the GDJ79. It runs a single 3in bore behind the diesel particulate filter with no rear muffler, keeping the rear section open. The aluminised coating gives sound day-to-day corrosion protection at a lower outlay than a stainless build.
Why the 3in bore behind the DPF?
Sized at 3in for the GDJ79's 2.8L turbo-diesel, the single bore opens the rear section while leaving the particulate filter in place. The aluminised build keeps the cost down compared with stainless on the same DPF-back layout.
Where does it stand on road compliance?
This DPF-back leaves the diesel particulate filter in place — the usual focus on a modern diesel ute. That doesn't make it automatically compliant: the rear-section change affects noise, so confirm the exact build and any state requirements with the workshop before fitting.
