A hotdog resonator at the rear and the factory cat retained ahead of it — that is the MPI Automotive MKTY0403, a 3in turbo-back listed to fit the Toyota Landcruiser GDJ79 2.8L turbo-diesel ute from 2023. It is the with-cat build that adds a compact resonator rather than a full muffler.
Why a hotdog on the GDJ79
A hotdog is a small straight-through resonator: gas runs through a perforated core in packing, trimming the hard edge and some drone without the reflection of a chambered muffler. On the GDJ79 it gives the 2.8L diesel a deeper voice than a full muffler build while keeping the 3in run flowing. It is the middle ground for tone — more note than a muffler, more restraint than running open.
Keeping the catalytic converter
