No cat, no muffler — the MPI Automotive MKTY0405 is the fully open 3in turbo-back for the Toyota Landcruiser GDJ79 2.8L turbo-diesel ute from 2023. With nothing in the run to silence and no cat ahead of it, it is the least-restricted and hardest-sounding build in this GDJ79 range.
The most open run in the range
Stripping out both the muffler and any resonator leaves a clean 3in path from the turbo back, the freest-flowing layout of the GDJ79 options and the rawest in tone. It is the deliberate pick for a build chasing maximum flow and the hardest note, accepting there is nothing in the system to subdue the 2.8L diesel and no drone control on the highway.
Why the cat-delete keeps it off-road
This build runs without the catalytic converter. Removing the cat from the engine-back run means it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is for off-road use only. On a modern diesel ute that is the line that settles registration, so speak to the workshop about your intended use before ordering.
What the 3in turbo-back covers
Turbo-back means the run is replaced from the turbo outlet rearward, a longer span than a rear-section swap. At 3in the MKTY0405 covers that full run on the GDJ79 2.8L ute from 2023, finished open at the rear. MPI Automotive lists it at $2387.98, generally ordered in to suit your build.
