A hotdog is a compact, straight-through resonator that trims drone rather than cutting overall volume. On the aluminised MKTY0406 it sits in the 3in turbo-back run between the muffler and straight-through options for tone, at the value end thanks to the aluminised rather than stainless build.
Why a 3in turbo-back?
Turbo-back means the run is replaced from the turbo outlet rearward, a longer span than a rear-section swap. Sized at 3in for the GDJ79's 2.8L turbo-diesel, it keeps the system clear from the turbo back. The aluminised construction is the more affordable counterpart to a stainless build for this ute.
