The MPI Automotive MKTY0408 is a 3in dual-exit DPF-back for the Toyota LandCruiser GDJ79 Ute 2.8L (2023 on) — the shorter, DPF-back section rather than a full turbo-back, run with no muffler. Where it starts is the key: downstream of the diesel particulate filter.
What does a DPF-back cover?
A DPF-back replaces the exhaust from the diesel particulate filter rearward, leaving the DPF and everything ahead of it untouched. The MKTY0408 is the cleanest upgrade path on a modern diesel ute because it doesn't disturb the emissions-control hardware up front — it just opens up the section behind it in 3in dual-exit pipe. That makes it a less involved job than a turbo-back and a logical first step for an owner who wants more flow without touching the filter.
Why run it without a muffler?
This build carries no muffler, so the post-DPF section flows straight through to the dual exits. The DPF itself does a lot of acoustic work on these engines, so a no-muffler DPF-back tends to add a firmer note rather than the rawness of a full no-cat system — a measured result for a daily-driven ute.
