The MPI Automotive MKTY0410 is the cat-retaining member of the GDJ79 turbo-back range: a 3in dual system for the Toyota LandCruiser GDJ79 Ute 2.8L (2023 on) that keeps the catalytic converter and runs a hotdog resonator. Holding the cat is what sets this one apart.
Why does keeping the cat matter?
On a diesel ute the catalytic converter is the emissions component that road compliance hinges on. The MKTY0410 retains it, so unlike a cat-delete build it leaves the GDJ79's factory emissions hardware in place. That makes it the more sensible choice for an owner who wants more flow and a firmer note without removing the part that compliance turns on. Confirm the exact build and any current state requirements with the workshop before fitting.
What does the hotdog add?
Behind the retained cat, this system uses a hotdog resonator rather than a chambered muffler — a compact straight-through unit that knocks down drone while staying free-flowing. The result is a firmer-than-stock diesel note in a 3in dual layout sized to the 2.8L, with the resonator taking the harshness out rather than killing volume.
