Redback Header.
Category: Extractors and headers

The Redback RBH044 is a header listed to fit the Holden HQ, HJ, HX, HZ and WB with the 253 and 308 V8, covering 1971 to 1985. It replaces the factory cast manifolds on the V8, which is where headers free up the most restriction.
A header — extractors — replaces the cast factory exhaust manifolds with tubular runners so each cylinder of the V8 gets a smoother path out. On the old Holden 253 and 308 motors the standard log manifolds are the tightest point, which is why extractors are a long-standing first step on these cars. The header is the front section only; the rest of the exhaust runs behind it.
It's listed to fit the Holden HQ, HJ, HX, HZ and WB with the 253 or 308 V8, from 1971 to 1985. Across that long model run there are body and steering variations, so confirm your exact car and engine with the workshop before ordering.
These are classic Holdens from an era of different emissions rules, and road compliance depends on the vehicle, its registration and the full exhaust behind the header. We can talk through what your HQ–WB needs and any NSW requirements before fitting.
Oak Flats Muffler Men fits HQ–WB extractors in-house across the Illawarra. On older V8 Holdens we pay attention to steering and clearance, the gasket faces and how the header meets the existing system. The recommended retail is $975, which we confirm with you, along with availability, before ordering.
