Built from 304-stainless steel, the MPI Automotive SSMBM110MF is a centre muffler for the six-cylinder Ford Falcon (EA–F). The stainless construction is the headline here: it resists the rust that claims mild-steel silencers, so it is the long-life replacement for the middle of the system.
Why 304-stainless for a Falcon centre muffler?
The centre of an exhaust runs hot, then cools and collects condensation, which is exactly where a mild-steel muffler rots from the inside out. A 304-stainless body shrugs off that corrosion cycle and keeps its finish far longer, so the SSMBM110MF is the part you fit when you want to do the centre section once and forget it. It is the upgrade over a plain aluminised replacement that will need doing again in a few years.
What does the centre muffler do on the straight-six?
