The MPI Automotive SSMBM416MF is a stainless centre muffler for the Toyota Landcruiser 105 Series — covering both the FZJ petrol and HZJ diesel — a mid-system silencer in corrosion-resistant stainless rather than aluminised steel.
Why stainless on a 105-Series centre muffler?
Stainless is the defining choice here. The SSMBM416MF is built in stainless so the silencer resists the rust that catches a hard-working older 4x4 living near the coast, where heat cycling and moisture work on a mid-system unit. On a 105 Series that may already be earning its keep, a stainless centre muffler is the longer-life path versus an aluminised replacement.
