The MPI Automotive SSMBM506MF is a 3in dual rear muffler for the Falcon XR8 and GT sedan, configured for right-hand exit only — the sedan-bodied tail silencer cut for a single-side exit on the right.
Why does the exit side define this muffler?
This rear muffler routes its pipes out the right-hand side of the sedan rather than splitting an exit each side, which dictates the tailpipe geometry and where the silencer sits. It's the right choice only if you run — or want — a right-side exit. The exit configuration is the single most important detail to get right when ordering, because the wrong one won't present the tips correctly.
What does it do on an XR8 or GT sedan?
As the rear silencer it sets the final note at the tailpipe and in the cabin on these performance Falcon sedans. It's a dual rear unit feeding the right-side exit, chambered to keep the V8 composed while still flowing. At 3in it's sized for an engine opened up for flow rather than a stock pipe.
