The MPI Automotive SSMBM564MF-DPFBACK is a 3in DPF-back centre muffler for the 4.5L V8 Toyota LandCruiser VDJ200 from 2016. It is built to fit up to the standard diesel particulate filter — so the factory DPF stays in place and this works the system from there back.
What does DPF-back mean here?
DPF-back means the section runs from behind the diesel particulate filter rearward, leaving the standard DPF where the factory fitted it. The SSMBM564MF-DPFBACK is the centre muffler in that run, sized at 3in to keep the 4.5L V8 turbo-diesel flowing through the middle of the wagon. Because it fits up to the standard DPF rather than replacing or removing it, the factory emissions filter is retained.
What does the centre muffler change?
The centre muffler handles the low-frequency drone the V8 diesel makes at cruise, settling it through the middle of the car before it reaches the cabin. At 3in it gives the DPF-back system a free-flowing centre while still controlling resonance. It renews the centre silencing on the 200 Series without disturbing the DPF ahead of it or the rear section behind it.
