Made for trucks that have lost their factory rear end to a tray or canopy, the MPI Automotive SSMBM730MF-STUB is the left-hand 3in rear muffler for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 V8, finished with a stub outlet so the tailpipe can be routed to clear the conversion.
What does the stub solve on a tray-back Silverado?
Fit a tray or canopy to a Silverado and the standard offside tailpipe rarely lines up any more. The SSMBM730MF-STUB answers that with a short stub outlet rather than a finished pipe, leaving the exit length and angle open for the workshop to set against your tray. It's the driver's-side rear muffler, packaged specifically for a modified back end rather than the showroom layout.
How does the rear muffler behave?
This left-hand rear unit is the last chambered silencer on the offside of the system. Internally it reflects and absorbs the V8's exhaust pulses to keep the note in check before the gas exits. The 3in body keeps pace with a free-flowing system on the 6.2L engine, so silencing comes without pinching the back half of the run.
