The MPI Automotive SSMKFD0098 is a 3in cat-back for the Ford Falcon BA/BF V8 sedan, finished with a chambered muffler. The 3in bore is sized for the V8 while the muffler keeps the note settled rather than open.
Why 3in with a chambered muffler?
This system carries the larger 3in bore — matched to the bigger output of the Falcon V8 — but finishes through a conventional chambered muffler that quietens by absorbing and reflecting sound inside its body. The result is the bigger-bore breathing without the harder edge a straight-through hotdog adds. It's the more subdued of the 3in Falcon V8 sedan cat-backs.
What does a cat-back cover?
A cat-back replaces the exhaust from the catalytic converter back to the tailpipe, leaving the factory emissions hardware ahead of the cat untouched. On the Falcon sedan the rear run and hanger layout are particular to the body, which is why the SSMKFD0098 is shaped specifically for the BA/BF V8 sedan.
