The MPI Automotive SSMKFD0152 is a 3in dual cat-back for the Ford BA/BF V8 ute, running a hotdog resonator into a muffler. The dual 3in layout sets it apart: twin pipes at the larger bore running back through the ute, paired with a free-flowing hotdog and a chambered muffler.
What does a 3in dual layout mean?
A dual system runs twin pipes from behind the catalytic converter rearward, and at a 3in bore it's the larger-pipe, paired-path option for the V8 ute. On the BA/BF that gives the back of the exhaust a twin run sized for more flow than a tighter bore. As a cat-back it leaves the factory catalytic converter in place, so the engine-back emissions hardware stays stock while the rear is reworked with the dual pipework.
How do the hotdog and muffler shape the note?
A hotdog is a compact straight-through resonator that flows freely while lightly tuning the sound; the muffler behind it is the chambered silencer controlling volume.
