The MPI Automotive SSMKFD0215 is the hotdog-and-muffler dual cat-back for the Ford FG V8 ute, on 2.5in pipe. A compact straight-through hotdog ahead of the muffler is what sets it apart: it keeps the dual run flowing more freely than a twin-chamber setup.
What does the hotdog change?
A hotdog is a short straight-through resonator — gas passes through a perforated core, so it cuts drone without the restriction of a full chamber. With a muffler behind it, the FG ute gets a freer-breathing rear half than a twin-muffler build, with the muffler still there to keep peak volume in check.
What does the dual cat-back cover?
It replaces the exhaust from the catalytic converter back in two pipes routed along the FG ute. The factory cat is retained, so this is a rear-half upgrade and the emissions equipment ahead of the cat is left as standard.
Is it road legal?
As a cat-back the SSMKFD0215 keeps the factory catalytic converter, which is the emissions hardware that matters for compliance on a road-registered ute.
