A dpf-back rather than a turbo-back: the MPI Automotive SSMKFD0252T-B is a stainless 3in dpf-back for the Ford PX2 and PX3 Ranger that starts behind the diesel particulate filter, runs no muffler, and exits through twin black tips at the side.

What does a dpf-back cover?

A dpf-back replaces the exhaust from behind the diesel particulate filter rearward — a shorter span than a turbo-back, leaving the DPF and the upstream pipework untouched. It is the option for an owner who wants to open up the rear of the system without disturbing the filter. At 3in it is sized to the Ranger's diesel, and with no muffler fitted it is the more open of the dpf-back builds.

Why the no-muffler layout?

Deleting the rear muffler removes the main absorptive silencer, so this version sits louder than a dpf-back that keeps one. The twin black-tip side exit gives it a hardware look to match. There is no resonator standing in, so the note is fuller from behind the filter back.

Why stainless?

The SS prefix marks the stainless build. Stainless resists the internal corrosion driven by condensation and acidic diesel exhaust in a working ute, so it outlasts an aluminised equivalent — sensible on a 4x4 in coastal Illawarra air.

Is it road legal, and how does fitting work?

This is a dpf-back, so it leaves the diesel particulate filter in place rather than removing it; volume from the deleted muffler is a separate noise consideration. We confirm the exact build and any state requirements with you before fitting. Oak Flats Muffler Men fits these in-house across the Illawarra — send your Ranger's build and we will book the bay.

Common questions

It replaces the exhaust from behind the diesel particulate filter rearward, leaving the DPF and upstream pipework in place — a shorter run than a turbo-back.
Does the SSMKFD0252T-B have a muffler?
No — this version runs without a muffler, so it is the more open and louder of the dpf-back builds.
Will it fit my PX2/PX3 Ranger?
