The MPI Automotive SSMKFD0255T is a 3in turbo-back for the Ford PX2 and PX3 Ranger that deletes the catalytic converter and runs a full muffler, finishing in a twin-tip side exit. The cat-delete paired with a proper muffler is its defining combination — open emissions side, but a chambered silencer keeping the note in check.
What does the muffler give on this cat-delete turbo-back?
This SSMKFD0255T runs a full muffler rather than a hotdog, so even with the cat deleted the chambered silencer keeps the PX2/PX3 Ranger's note more subdued than a hotdog or muffler-less build. That is the choice this SKU represents — the quieter-leaning member of the cat-delete turbo-back set. It is a turbo-back at 3in, running from the turbo outlet rearward to a twin-tip side exit.
Why the cat-delete is off-road only
This SSMKFD0255T deletes the catalytic converter on a turbo-back diesel system, which removes emissions hardware. The result is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW, and it is sold for off-road use only. A fitted muffler does not change that — emissions hardware, not noise, is the issue, and a registered Ranger should run the with-cat version.
