Ford Ranger (Pre-DPF) PX, PX2, 3.2L, 3in Turbo Back With Cat, Without Muffler.
Category: Mufflers and resonators

The MPI Automotive SSMKFD0304 is a 3in turbo-back for the pre-DPF Ranger PX/PX2 3.2L that keeps the catalytic converter and runs without a muffler, exiting conventionally to the rear. It's the cat-retained, rear-exit build in this family.
The SSMKFD0304 takes the middle path: it deletes the muffler to free up the 3.2L turbo-diesel's note, but keeps the catalytic converter so the factory emissions hardware stays in place. That's what separates it from the full cat-delete builds — a harder note without stripping the cat, exiting to the rear rather than out the side.
It replaces the exhaust from the turbo outlet rearward, a longer span than a cat-back and the bigger-bore step where a diesel frees up. At 3in it's sized for the engine. This build keeps the cat and runs without a muffler, so the path is open while the emissions hardware stays.
Because the SSMKFD0304 retains the catalytic converter, the Ranger's factory emissions equipment stays in place — the usual compliance sticking point on a diesel ute. A muffler-delete still changes the system's character, so confirm the exact build and any state requirements with the workshop before fitting.
