Built at 3in bore, the MPI Automotive SSMKIZ0016 is a dpf-back exhaust listed to fit the Isuzu MU-X 3.0L (Jan 2017 to June 2021, MY19). It runs without a rear muffler, so the section from the DPF back flows straight through for the freest path this engine can carry.
What does a 3in dpf-back change?
A dpf-back replaces everything from the diesel particulate filter outlet rearward, leaving the DPF itself in place. At 3in the SSMKIZ0016 opens the bore up over the factory tubing, which is the section where a turbo-diesel like the MU-X's 3.0L tends to free up airflow once the restrictive standard pipework is gone. The DPF stays, so the emissions hardware the wagon left the factory with is retained.
Why no muffler on this one?
This variant is the muffler-delete build: with no rear silencer in the path, gas exits with less reflection and absorption, so expect a fuller, harder note than the factory wagon and more presence under load. It is the most open option in the family for owners chasing flow and sound rather than the quietest cabin.
