The MPI Automotive SSMKIZ0028 is the cat-delete turbo-back with a hotdog for the Isuzu D-Max 3.0L (Jan 2017 – 2020). Pairing a full turbo-back span and cat-delete with a hotdog resonator is its signature — freer flow than a with-cat run, with a compact resonator keeping the note in check.

What does this turbo-back configuration cover?

A turbo-back replaces the exhaust from the turbo outlet rearward, where a 3.0L diesel breathes better. This version deletes the catalytic converter for freer flow and adds a hotdog — a compact straight-through resonator — rather than a full muffler. The SSMKIZ0028 therefore flows more freely than a with-cat turbo-back while the hotdog tidies the note over a bare delete.

Is it road legal?

Because the SSMKIZ0028 deletes the catalytic converter on the D-Max's diesel system, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is intended for off-road use only. The hotdog manages drone but does not change that status. This is an off-road or competition build, not for a registered road vehicle.

Why a hotdog instead of a muffler?

The hotdog cuts the worst of the drone without the bulk or restriction of a full muffler, keeping flow high on an off-road D-Max. It sits between a no-muffler turbo-back and a fully-muffled one — a middle ground for owners who want some note control without losing flow.

What does fitting involve in the Illawarra?

Oak Flats Muffler Men supplies and fits turbo-back systems for the 2017–2020 D-Max 3.0L at our Illawarra workshop. It's listed to fit the Isuzu D-Max; we'll confirm the build, go through the off-road-only status, and check the turbo match, hotdog clearance and joins first.

Common questions

Is the SSMKIZ0028 road legal?
No. It deletes the catalytic converter, so it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is intended for off-road use only.
What does the hotdog add?
It's a compact straight-through resonator that trims drone while keeping flow high — quieter than a no-muffler turbo-back, freer than a full muffler.
Will it fit my D-Max?
It's listed to fit the Isuzu D-Max 3.0L from Jan 2017 to 2020. Confirm your build with the workshop first.
