The MPI Automotive SSMKIZ0032 is the cat-delete, hotdog build for the Isuzu D-Max 3.0L (June 2012 – Jan 2017). Removing the catalytic converter while keeping a hotdog resonator is its defining combination — freer flow than a with-cat version, with a compact resonator taming the note.

What does the cat-delete with hotdog change?

On the 2012–2017 D-Max 3.0L this build removes the catalytic converter, taking the converter restriction out of the run, and keeps a hotdog — a compact straight-through resonator — to trim the drone. The result is freer flow than the with-cat versions while the hotdog keeps the note tidier than a bare pipe. The trade-off here is a compliance one, covered below.

Is it road legal?

Because the SSMKIZ0032 deletes the catalytic converter on the D-Max's diesel system, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is intended for off-road use only. The hotdog manages drone but does not change that status. Choose this build for off-road or property use, not a registered road vehicle.

Who is this configuration for?

It suits an owner running the D-Max off-road who wants more than a bare delete but less than a full muffler. The hotdog keeps cabin drone in check on the highway run between tracks without much flow penalty — a sensible middle ground.

What does fitting involve in the Illawarra?

Oak Flats Muffler Men supplies and fits this section for the 2012–2017 D-Max 3.0L at our Illawarra workshop. It's listed to fit the Isuzu D-Max of this era; we'll confirm the build, go through the off-road-only status, and check the hotdog clearance and joins first.

Common questions

Is the SSMKIZ0032 road legal?
No. It deletes the catalytic converter, so it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is intended for off-road use only.
What does the hotdog do?
It's a compact straight-through resonator that cuts drone while keeping flow high — quieter than a bare delete, freer than a full muffler.
Will it fit my D-Max?
It's listed to fit the Isuzu D-Max 3.0L from June 2012 to Jan 2017. Confirm your build with the workshop first.
