What is a hotdog resonator?
A hotdog is a small, straight-through resonator: a perforated core wrapped in packing inside a slim canister. It tames a specific frequency band, mostly the drone you hear at a steady cruise, without the volume drop of a full chambered muffler. On the SSMKMI0022 it keeps the 2.5L CRD diesel tidy at a cruise while leaving the rest of the note free.
Is it road legal?
No. Because it deletes the catalytic converter on a road-relevant exhaust path, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is sold for off-road use only. The hotdog handles resonance, but it does not replace the emissions function of the catalytic converter the SSMKMI0022 removes.
